A personal note
From the author
I recently celebrated my 80th year and I’m now planning ahead for the next decade. That may sound hopelessly optimistic or foolishly ambitious, but I’ve successfully navigated through the past twenty-five years between semi-retired and self-unemployed, with occasional bursts of energy and enthusiasm on projects that have been personally satisfying, so I intend to continue that approach as long as I’m able and until it stops being fun.
The birthday celebrations included a gathering with the valued friends and family, colleagues and business associates, who have all contributed their efforts and expertise, words of wisdom, and encouragement or critique, that resulted in my successes and saved me from my biggest mistakes. We enjoyed reminiscing and sharing the stories, and the lessons we learned together. It was a day of gratitude and recognition of our good fortune in spite of the very troubled world around us.
When the celebrating and reminiscing were done, we had renewed old relationships from the past and made new plans for the future with a better understanding of our priorities and the projects that were most important to us.
My Plans for the Next Decade
You may be familiar with my writing and publishing four business books, six crime fiction novels, and several short stories over the past ten years, this note is a summary of my plans for the next decade:
- Continue the Dale Hunter Thriller Series, additional short story collections, another volume of The Kid from California Short Story Series, and complete a fictional family memoir, Just a Farm Boy from Saskatchewan.
- Assume a more senior role with Crime Writers of Canada as the Board-Chair for 2025-26.
- Publish additional business books on Enlightened Entrepreneurship, plus regular articles and commentary on business, politics and life.
- Expand publishing and distribution channels for published works of fiction and non-fiction, attracting a wider audience.
- Spend more time spent with family and friends on leisure activities, engage with more creative arts, culture and history, and international sporting events, and visit more of the world outside North America and Europe.
